Sending WhatsApp Appointment Reminders from BigChange
Last updated: September 16, 2026
If you use BigChange to manage your field operations, you can connect it to Broadcaster and send automatic WhatsApp reminders to clients before each job. BigChange includes a built-in calendar feed that makes the connection straightforward.
What your clients receive
Your client receives a WhatsApp message from your business number ahead of their appointment. The message includes their name, the job date and time, and any details from your reminder template. You choose the timing, a few days before, the day before, the morning of, or a combination.
How to connect BigChange to Broadcaster
BigChange provides iCal feeds for resource schedules through its JobWatch platform. Broadcaster reads this feed to pull in your upcoming jobs.
Step 1: Get your BigChange iCal feed URL
- Log into your BigChange JobWatch account on a desktop browser
- Go to Resources and open the resource or team calendar you want to connect
- Look for the Calendar Feed or Subscribe option within the schedule view
- Copy the iCal feed URL
If you cannot locate the calendar feed option, contact BigChange support — the exact location can vary depending on your account configuration and plan level.
Step 2: Add the feed to Broadcaster
- Log into your Broadcaster account
- Go to Integrations in the left-hand menu
- On the ICS Calendar Feed card, press Add connection, then paste your BigChange iCal URL into Calendar URL and choose how often Broadcaster should check it: every hour, every 6 hours, or twice a day
- Press Add calendar feed
For full details on the iCal connection process, see our calendar connection guide.
What gets synced
| What syncs | Notes |
|---|---|
| Job date and time | Yes |
| Job title | Yes, from the job description in BigChange |
| Client phone number | Used to find the matching contact. If nobody matches, the visit is held until you add the person, or Broadcaster can add them for you |
| Client name | Matched from Broadcaster by phone number, then email, then name |
| Job notes | Depends on what BigChange includes in the feed |
Broadcaster matches a calendar event to a contact by phone number first, then by email, then by name. If nobody matches, the visit is not booked: it is listed on your Integration Activity page until you add the person, and then books itself. If you would rather Broadcaster added the person and booked the visit straight away, choose that option in the feed’s settings under Integrations.
BigChange schedules are resource-based, so make sure you are connecting a feed that covers all relevant jobs rather than a single engineer’s view.
Does this work for my trade?
BigChange is used by established field service businesses across the UK, waste management, facilities maintenance, utilities, and multi-van trades operations. If you are running BigChange at that scale, Broadcaster adds a direct WhatsApp communication channel to your existing workflow without replacing any part of how you currently manage jobs.
For businesses with a high volume of planned maintenance visits, Broadcaster handles the client reminder side automatically regardless of job volume.
A note on BigChange’s built-in notifications
BigChange includes its own customer notification features. If you are already using those, Broadcaster adds WhatsApp specifically, which typically gets significantly higher open and read rates than SMS or email notifications.
