Connecting Your Calendar to Broadcaster
Last updated: April 5, 2026
Broadcaster can import your appointments from any calendar that provides an iCal (ICS) feed. This guide covers how to get your calendar feed URL from the most common sources used by UK trade and service businesses. When you connect a calendar the feed is one way, i.e. Broadcaster only reads you calendar it does not make changes to you calendar.
Quick Start: Which Method Do I Need?
| Your Calendar/App | Method |
|---|---|
| Google Calendar | Get feed directly from Google |
| Microsoft Outlook / Office 365 | Get feed directly from Outlook |
| Jobber | Get feed directly from Jobber |
| ServiceM8 | Get feed directly from ServiceM8 |
| Tradify | Sync to Google first |
| Fergus | Sync to Google first |
| Powered Now | Sync to Google first |
| Workever | Sync to Google first |
| ToolTime | Sync to Google first |
| Commusoft | Sync to Outlook first |
| simPRO | Sync to Google or Outlook first |
| Other job management apps | Check if it syncs to Google/Outlook |
What is an iCal Feed?
An iCal feed (also called an ICS feed) is a web address (URL) that contains your calendar data in a standard format. When you give Broadcaster this URL, we can read your appointments and use them to send timely reminders to your clients.
Important: An iCal feed URL is read-only — Broadcaster can see your appointments but cannot modify your calendar.
Your iCal feed URL will look something like this:
https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/yourname%40gmail.com/private-abc123/basic.ics
Keep your iCal URL private — anyone with this link can see your calendar.
Direct Calendar Sources
These calendars provide iCal feeds directly. If you use one of these, follow the instructions below.
Google Calendar
Google Calendar is the most common calendar for UK tradespeople, and many job management apps sync to it.

- Find “Secret address in iCal format”
- Click the copy icon next to the URL

Tips for Google Calendar
- Use the “Secret address” not the public address — the secret address includes your private appointments
- Changes to your Google Calendar typically appear in Broadcaster within 1 hour but you can manually request a refresh.
Troubleshooting Google Calendar
Can’t find “Settings and sharing”?
Make sure you’re using Google Calendar on a computer browser, not the mobile app. Settings are not available in the mobile app.
Don’t see “Secret address in iCal format”?
You may be looking at a calendar you don’t own (e.g., a shared calendar from someone else). You can only get iCal feeds for calendars you own.

Troubleshooting
My appointments aren’t appearing in Broadcaster
- Check the feed URL is correct — Make sure you copied the entire URL including any characters after the
.ics - Wait for sync — Calendar feeds can take 15 minutes to several hours to update, depending on the source
- Check you’re syncing the right calendar — If you have multiple calendars, make sure you got the feed from the one containing your appointments
- Verify the source calendar has appointments — Check that appointments appear in Google/Outlook/your job app before troubleshooting Broadcaster
My feed URL stopped working
- Password changed? — If you changed your Google or Microsoft password, your feed URL may have been invalidated. Generate a new one
- Calendar deleted or renamed? — If you deleted or significantly changed your calendar, you’ll need to generate a new feed URL
- Permissions changed? — For Outlook, check that calendar publishing is still enabled
Appointments are delayed
Different calendar providers refresh at different rates:
| Source | Typical Refresh Rate |
|---|---|
| Google Calendar | Every 12-24 hours (for subscribed calendars) |
| Outlook | Every 30 minutes to a few hours |
| Jobber (direct) | Every 15-30 minutes |
| ServiceM8 (direct) | Every 15 minutes |
For time-sensitive reminders, we recommend:
- Using Jobber or ServiceM8 direct feeds where possible
- Or syncing your job management app to Google/Outlook, then connecting that to Broadcaster
